Our trays are made by a native Quito, Ecuador artisan who own a small wood working studio. In his small workshop, Jose takes our original designs and makes these precious trays that turn a mundane task like removing one's jewelry at night, into a daily offering. We were inspired by his process and we think you will be as well. He travels five hours by bus to source the wood and hand carve the "bateas" which he then inlays by hand with mother of pearl and copper. He treats the wood with walnut wax which he also hand harvests and applies to add the tray's gorgeous patina. Available in four styles - moon phases, hamsa, moon & stars, or our eye design.
