These trays hail from the Cotopaxi region -- a province composed of rural agricultural communities. Since the 1970’s the painting of trays and souvenirs for tourism have provided an additional form of income to many families in the area.

This painter's work literally stopped us in our tracks during a trip to Otavalo market. This entrepreneurial woman, who learned to paint from her aunt, has been painting for over a decade. While we saw other artists' work, she had a unique flair and an innate sense of color that were unlike any other – and Veronica would know as she has seen this type of painting since she was a little tot growing up in Ecuador! We were extra thrilled when she agreed to incorporate our iconic hamsa hands into her brilliant trays. We are so excited to feature her work and think these pieces make the most perfect hostess gift or treat for yourself!
